NEXT PLAY: RUN OR PASS ATTEMPT

After the bet is placed, will we see a run or a pass attempt next?

Run: rush, up the middle, right/left end, right/left guard, right/left tackle

Pass attempt: pass, incomplete pass, interception

If there is a sack, there is no result and the bet remains open.

FIRST DOWN MADE: YES OR NO

Every play starts with a “first down”—labelled “1st and X” in the play-by-play.  This bet asks: will there be a second first down—a second “1st and X”—in the same play?

The bet is a simple yes/no question.  Exceptions:

Touchdown: automatic yes.  Punt: automatic no.

NEXT COMPLETION +/- 7.5 YARDS

After the bet is placed, will the game’s next completed pass gain more or less than 7.5 yards?  Basically, this is a standard over/under bet.  You can find the yards gained in the play-by-play section—e.g., “N.Foles pass short right to C.Clement to NE 8 for 55 yards”.  In this case, the pass was more than 7.5 yards.

NEXT RUSH ATTEMPT +/- 3.5 YARDS

After the bet is placed, will the game’s next run gain more or less than 3.5 yards?  You can find the yards gained in the play-by-play section—e.g., “C.Clement left guard to NE 2 for 6 yards.”  In this case, the run was more than 3.5 yards.

Rush: run, up the middle, right/left end, right/left guard, right/left tackle

RESULT OF NEXT FIRST DOWN

After the bet is placed—always during a first down—what will the next play outcome on the play-by-play be?  There are always four possibilities:

  1. New first down (1st and anything)
  2. 2nd and 1-9 (e.g., 2nd and 2, 2nd and 8, etc.)
  3. 2nd and 10
  4. 2nd and 11+ (e.g., 2nd and 12, 2nd and 28, etc.)

If there is an offensive scoring play (touchdown or field goal), this is considered a new first down.  If there is a penalty resulting in a replay, there is no result, and the bet remains open.

HOW TO FIND RESULTS

We recommend the ESPN.com play-by-play section.  To do so, find the game on ESPN.com, then choose “Play-by-play”.  (You may need to choose “Box Score” first.)  Select “All Drives” at the top of the screen.  Game clock counts DOWN from 15’ to 0’ in each quarter.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT

After the bet is placed, which of the following four events will happen next?  The bet remains open until one of these happens, even into a new quarter, half, or into overtime.

  1. Offensive flag (penalty by the team holding the ball)
  2. Defensive flag (penalty by the team not holding the ball)
  3. Sack
  4. Time out

You will be able to find these terms directly in the play-by-play summary.

DRIVE OUTCOME

After the bet is placed, what will be the outcome of the next drive?

  1. Punt
  2. Made (successful) field goal
  3. Offensive touchdown (i.e., scored by the team in possession)
  4. Other (turnover, safety, fake/failed punt)

If the clock runs out on the half or the full game before one of these happens, the bets are void and stakes refunded.

Turnover: the ball changes possession without a score, beginning a new drive (and a new list of plays on the play-by-play summary).

NEXT TOUCHDOWN IN THE GAME – PASS OR RUN?

After the bet is placed, will the game’s next touchdown be scored following a run or a pass?

Run: rush, up the middle, right/left end, right/left guard, right/left tackle

Pass attempt: pass, incomplete pass, interception

The touchdown must be an offensive touchdown (i.e., scored by the team who has possession of the ball.)  If not, there is no result, and the bet remains open.

POINTS ON THIS DRIVE

After the bet is placed, is there a scoring play (touchdown or field goal) on the same drive (i.e., the same list of plays on the play-by-play) or not?

The bet is a simple yes/no question.

Exception: A defensive touchdown does not count, nor does a safety.
